David Brane Dies; Oldest Man in Wabash County


David Brane, 95, the oldest man living in Wabash county, died Wednesday morning at 10 o;clock in his home south of Lagro on the Holland pike. Although Mr. Brane had been in ill health since last May, he attended the Old Settler's day program at the city park on Labor day but was not able to be out of the car. For a number of years he had received the prize for being the oldest man present. He was born Aug. 1, 1846 in Montgomery county, O., to Peter and Elizabeth Brane. His wife preceded him in death eleven years ago. He is survived by his daughters, Mrs. Homer Kendall of Wabash coiunty, Mrs. Addision Shaffer of North Manchester, Mrs. Arlie Smith of near Wabash and Mrs. Glen Cox of near Wabash; one son, Homer A. Brane of Wabash county; one sister Mrs. Albert Jeffery; 20 grandchildren and two great grand-daughters. The body will be taken to the residence from the McNown Funeral home in Lagro thursday evening. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock (CST) in the residence. Burial will be in Center Grove cemetery.
