The Boys of the 69th - Some Gave All

Wiley Jefferson DUDLEY enlisted as a private in Company I, 69th Infantry Regiment Indiana on 19th of August 1862.  He was 25 years old.

Wiley was born 1837 in Indiana to Abner DUDLEY and Elizabeth Snow DUDLEY.  On the 26 Jan 1860 in Henry County, Indiana he married Elizabeth Staley.  His son, John Jefferson DUDLEY, was born in Oct of 1862 making him just 2 months old when Wiley mustered into service.

The 69th was called into service at the siege of Vicksburg from May - July 1863.  On 5 July 1863 Wiley died as a Corporal in the Union hospital in Vicksburg.

He is buried in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.  His Find a Grave memorial can be viewed here.
