Treasure Chest Thursday - Brane Family Bible
One of my most treasured possessions is the bible kept by my Great-Great Grandparents, John Thomas Brane and Marilla Scott Brane.
Inside the front cover they glued and taped obituaries for family members from the local newspaper dating back to 1872.
Inside are listings of marriage dates:
Family births:
And family death dates:
Listed on this page second to last is the date of death for my great-great grandfather John Thomas Brane on 11 Jul 1934. Also listed is my great-great grandmother Marilla Elma Scott Brane on 21 Mar 1948.
Written in by another family member, this is the last date entered in this treasure of a family bible.

Treasure Chest Thursday - Sick Call Cabinet
This is the Sick Call or Last Rites Cabinet that hung in my maternal grandfathers house when he was young. It now hangs in my parents home and is willed to my oldest son, Ben, who expressed his desire for it.My grandfather was given last rites from the items in the cabinet when he was a child. Obviously he lived, but the story he told of that day is a treasure to our family. As is the cabinet.
